Ostello Bello Lake Como

I have stayed at Ostello Bello for three nights in late August, and I must say, it was by far the best hostel experience I've ever had. The Ostello Bello is located central and very close to lake Como. It’s easy to reach from the train station Como San Giovani and you can get to the city center, which you can explore easily by foot, within minutes. Regarding the rooms there is not much to say, but also nothing to complain about. I have been staying in a six-bed dormitory. Everything was clean, AC, shower and toilette were working and toilette paper has been always available. Here it depends on the people you are staying with. The breakfast is good, but in any case there is a supermarket 24/7 open right next to the hostel where you can go in case you can not make it to the breakfast until 11 a.m. What’s special about Ostello Bello are the very cozy common areas in the inner courtyard of the hostel where I enjoyed chatting and drinking in the evenings and sharing a breakfast with newly made friends in the morning. There’s also a fully-equipped kitchen, complemented by a cozy rooftop terrace. It offers some free food and everything you need to make an Italian pasta, making it the perfect spot for cooking with friends and soon-to-be friends. Some free snacks and free water are also available. The staff is very courteous and happy to help you finding the best activities and spots around Como. I particularly enjoyed the organized social events, such as the “family” dinner, beer pong tournament, sunset picnic, and quiz night. These activities are fantastic opportunities to get in contact with the other guests in the hostel. Special thanks to the volunteer Laura who has been organizing these events with so much effort and was eager to get all people involved and connected. After these activities, the common area tends to transform into a lively bar, offering reasonably priced drinks, which even attracts locals.

Welcome drink included, that was really nice. Clean rooms, nice facilities, good bed with shelf and small light and power supply. Friendly staff. And excellent location. I usually don't stay in hostels but this one was really good. Also stuff boxes available - you can use a lock to ensure safety. I did not have one, but all my things were safe anyway. Bar inside the hostel is also nice. There is big kitchen with everything - even free food. There is special garden for guests only. And rooms are quiet, with air condition. Had a good sleep after flight. Excellent location in the very centre of Como - had a good evening walk, all the restaurants and gelaterias are right there.

I can't speak highly enough about Ostello Bello Como. The staff were great, it's close to the station,ferry and other transport around the lake. I met a group of people from different places and it felt very social. The kitchen and communal areas were awesome. Loved the karaoke night, it was so fun. Comfortable room in the 2nd building. Laundry facilities were great too. They provide complimentary food to use to cook as well and is such a nice touch to make a quick meal.

The hostel makes you feel you're staying with friends. It welcomes you and has activities to help you bond with other guests. The staff are amazing, the room clean, and you can get free comfort stuff like tampons, eye masks, toothbrush, and others. I didn't expect these from a hostel, so it was a nice touch. At first when I arrived, they gave me a welcome drink and told me if I wanted to join the family dinner tonight with the other guests. I joined and the people were absolutely amazing. We had a game night and bonded. The time I spent at the hostel will forever be a special memory for me.

Staff were helpful, and someone helped me take my baggage to my room. I got help on finding my way around and figuring out the buses and ferries with the free hostel map. It was nice to have pasta and sauce available to cook myself at night. The place was bright and clean.
